Born in Chile, raised in Brazil and as of today a resident of France, Jorge Camilo Valenzuela is a citizen of the world and, above all, a rainforest lover. By sailing up rivers running deep into their hearts and climbing trees up to their green ceiling rolling between sky and ground, he makes us discover their unique ecosystems. He also shares the daily lives of local ethnic tribes, whose fragile cultures and futures both fascinate him and give him reasons to worry.
Jorge tells and testifies what happens in the world. He always travels with eyes wide open, turning life experiences into pictures.
A published author and photographer working with Vilo and National Geographic, he shares his love for our global natural heritage by exposing his pictures in places such as Paris, Tokyo, Barcelona, Santiago, and others. His photo projects focused on environment and environmental conservation more often than not require constant presence and persistence in the field. To this purpose, he immerses himself in those remote universes whose hostility can only be comprehended with humility and patience.
Jorge Camilo Valenzuela belongs to those few photographers able to stay for several months in some of the most dangerous jungles on the planet, among which Amazonia, Bornea and Africa. On those dangerous grounds he uses all his talent to take pictures of animals and plants and study those great ecosystems which hold a great importance to our future.
To bring back these amazing pictures of rare and endangered species, Jorge can walk for days through impenetrable jungles, carrying heavy equipment, camping in hostile places filled with poisonous snakes, crocodiles or scorpions.
Jorge aims at increasing people awareness of wildlife conservation, at improving environmental education, at opening our horizons on the planet’s biodiversity.
